2011 TRI GOLF PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Tri Golf program will be rolled out within selected districts across Victoria throughout 2011 and aims to increase junior participation in the sport at club level. The program is aimed at girls and boys, aged 8 to 12.

The Tri Golf program is an opportunity for kids to "try golf". There are three phases to the program:

1. Introductory Phase - Including a Big Golf Day Out held at participating clubs.
2. Learning Phase - Part of the national MyGolf program, run by th host club over an 8 week period (approx).
3. Tri Challenge Day - To provide basic skills and competition experiences.

The “Tri Golf” program is a joint initiative of Women’s Golf Victoria and Stuart Appleby Junior Golf and supported by Sport and Recreation Victoria. The program is designed to provide children with a coordinated and sustainable approach to taking up the game of golf. The program is run typically over a 3 month period.

The first Tri Golf programs for 2011 will run at 3 regional venues as indicated in the table below. The date shown is for the first part of the program, the Big Golf Day Out, a great way to get started.

The program then moves into the other phases of basic coaching, development and modified competition.

It is anticipated that the next wave of programs will be in Metropolitan Melbourne commencing in the July school holiday period. Informtaion will be added here as it comes to hand.
