TEAM GOLF INTRODUCTION

The Team Golf for schools program is designed to offer school aged children the opportunity of competing in Australia’s largest participant sport.

The event is open to all school children in years 7 - 9, both male and female. No handicap is required to participate in TEAM GOLF, just a desire to be part of a team and represent your school. It also adds to the experiences of children already exposed to golf through their Primary School and the VPSSA championship.

TEAM GOLF is played in an ambrose format over 9 holes. Ambrose is a 4 person team based competition, engendering both teamwork and fun.

Secondary School teams from all over Victoria battled it out in the “Team Golf for Schools” State Final played at the Latrobe Golf Club. Last year’s favourites, De La Salle College (Charles Stewart, Alex Stott, Doug Loton and Josh Vitacca) took out the title winning on a count back over Oberon High School (Keith Wrzuszczak, Ben Eccles, Tavae Savni, Solomon Edwards). Both teams finished with very impressive scores of 4 under par 31. One shot back were Sacred Heart College and St Bede’s College.

SAJG would like to thank all the teachers, parents and students for making this day a success. A special thank you to the teams from outside Melbourne who travelled down for the day.

We would also like to thank Latrobe Golf Club for their generosity in hosting the event for the second year running. The course was presented magnificently, which made the low winning scores possible.
