Introductory Coaching

SAJG Coaching Philosophy

SAJG encourages children to take up the game via carnival come and try days called “Big Golf Days Out”, which contain an introductory coaching element. The many hundreds of young children involved in golf these days are often seeking regular, quality, child-friendly coaching.

SAJG acknowledges the many coaching opportunities available to junior golfers and acknowledges the very good work being carried out by many golf professionals around the state.

SAJG is working with golf professionals through the Pump Golf program to deliver follow up coaching program to the "Big Golf Day Out" for those wanting more specialised junior coaching.

Pump Golf is a national introductory development program offered at golf clubs and driving ranges across Australia, delivered by PGA professional and/or accredited community coaches.

Pump Golf provides a structured quality program to help juniors learn the game. The main aim of the pumpgolf program is to increase the number of juniors playing golf.

Finding a junior coach in your area can be as simple as typing your postcode into the search function on the Pump Golf website. Click on the Pump Golf image (left) to go to the website.

A great starting point is to get the basic information on learning and playing the game. Stuart's long time coach, Steven Bann, has written a book entitled "My First Golf Book", which covers all these aspects,.

Other Coaching Opportunities

Each year Stuart runs a coaching session for SAJG members. Pictured is Stuart at Kingston Heath in December 2008 going through some of his routines. All the attendees not only got to see Stuart in action working on his game, but gained some valuable insight into how great players practice.

SAJG Camps

In 2008, SAJG has introduced a 3 day coaching camp for juniors wishing to take their game to the next level. The first camp is for boys only and is being held in the July school holiday period at Moonah Links. The facilities are first class and are the same as those used for the AIS golf program.

Please visit the Camp page for up to date information on SAJG camps.
